
Mr. George Tucker
NLTA
Mr. George Tucker, who holds a M.Ed. from
Memorial, has been an educator in this province for over 27 years.
Within the Eastern School District he has worked as a teacher,
vice-principal, principal and program specialist. At the Department
of Education (NL), he was employed as a program development
specialist where his main responsibilities included developing
primary curriculum, supporting and assisting teachers in
implementing new K-3 curriculum, and planning and facilitating
professional development (PD) workshops and institutes for
teachers.
Mr. Tucker was one of the founding executive members of the NLTA Elementary Special Interest Council and has served as an executive member and president of the School Administrators' Council (both regionally and provincially). He has also been an executive member of the Canadian Association of Principals and served as its president in 2001-02. Currently George is an Administrative Staff Officer in the Professional Development Division of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers' Association. As a member of the Research Advisory Committee will help connect the CURA research agenda to teachers' work.
