
Dr. Bruce Sheppard
Dr. Bruce Sheppard is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, Memorial University and an Adjunct Associate Professor, Faculty of Education, Calgary University. Following his tenure as Chief Executive Officer/Director of Education for Eastern School District, he rejoined Memorial's Faculty of Education on November 1, 2005. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Ottawa, has taught graduate and undergraduate courses at Memorial University, and graduate courses in educational administration at the University of Ottawa and St. Francis Xavier University.
His research interests in education include leadership, governance, and change; organizational learning; improving student learning; program implementation, and e-learning. He has published widely in academic and professional journals and been a presenter at various national and international conferences. Bruce was awarded the Canadian Education Association CEA-Whitworth Award for his contribution to research and scholarship in Canada. In 2003, he was awarded the Educator's Award of Excellence by the Newfoundland and Labrador School Boards Association. Currently, he is involved with the Effectiveness Study and the Leadership Study and is a member of the CURA Executive Team.
