Law, Democracy and Social Justice 1000 (001)
Law, Democracy and Social Justice examines the nature and aims of democracy and contemporary issues related to social justice through a law and society perspective.
Course Prerequisite: none
Required qualifications:
Master's degree in a related discipline (i.e., social sciences and humanities with a specialization in law) or law degree; demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the area of law and society, democracy and social justice; and demonstrated evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level.
The rate of pay is according to the LUMUN Collective Agreement.

Law and Society is an introduction to law in Canadian society and the role which it has played in societies past and present.
Course Prerequisite: LWSO 1000
Credit restriction: Credit may be obtained for only one of Law and Society 2000, Law and Society in Canada, and the former Law and Society 2000, Law and Society
Required qualifications:
Master's degree in a related discipline (i.e., social sciences and humanities with a specialization in law) or law degree; demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the area of law and society in the Canadian legal system; and demonstrated evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level; and recent experience teaching through distance education.
The rate of pay is according to the LUMUN Collective Agreement.

Women and Law in Canada 3015 (056)
This course looks at the interplay between law and status under the law: some of the main legal issues affecting women today, such as workplace equality, family law and women and crime. This course provides students with the opportunity to study case in depth and apply legal theories to current issues affecting Canadian women.
Course Prerequisite: LWSO 1000; LWSO 2000 is recommended
Required qualifications:
Master's degree in a related discipline (i.e., social sciences and humanities with a specialization in women and law and/or feminist legal scholarship) or law degree; demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the area of women and the law in Canada; and demonstrated evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to those with direct experience in issues related to women and the law.

Organized Crime in Canada: National and Global Perspectives 3400 (001)
This course examines the origins, expansion and changing character of organized crime in Canada from the early twentieth century to the present. Laws relating to criminal activity, law enforcement and available tools to combat organized crime are accessed according to the inherent problems of investigation, evidence and litigation.
Course Prerequisite: LWSO 1000. LWSO 2000 is recommended
Required qualifications:
Master's degree in a related discipline (i.e., social sciences and humanities with a specialization in law and/or criminology) or law degree; demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the area of law and society and in the Canadian legal system; demonstrated evidence of experienced teaching at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to those with direct experience in issues related to organized crime in Canada.

Multidisciplinary Perspectives on Law and Society 4000 (081)
This course is an appreciation and understanding of those rules and activities termed legal which can be gained from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the different ways in which law may be approached within the humanities and social sciences. Through readings, discussion and research, students will gain a wider understanding of the role of law in society and of the diverse academic approaches for understanding it.
Course Prerequisite: LWSO 1000 and at least 15 credit hours in courses applicable to the Law and Society major or minor

Master's degree in a related discipline (i.e., social sciences and humanities with a specialization in law and/or multidisciplinary research) or law degree; demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the area of law and society and in the Canadian legal system; demonstrated evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level; and recent experience teaching through distance education.
