Community service

Memorial has established a new award to honour the community service efforts of its staff and faculty members.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the President’s Award for Exceptional Community Service to recognize employees who have demonstrated outstanding community service.

Faculty and staff at Memorial are involved in their communities by helping with scientific and scholarly expertise, by working with community groups, and by volunteering their time to worthy causes, among other things.

2013 Award Winner

Patricia Bryant, Faculty of Medicine, Health Sciences Centre Library

Patricia Bryant has been employed with Memorial for 28 years. It is the long list of personal contributions for which Ms. Bryant is being recognized. There are many hours of her time that are not accounted for by a time sheet. When not at work at Memorial Ms. Bryant is making double-time in the community through her volunteer work with the Soccer Association, school council, Epilepsy Newfoundland and Labrador, etc. She does it all while being a single parent of three children. She is an inspiration to all of us.
