Pie a prof
The HKR student society organized the Pie a prof auction to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society's Relay for Life. They came away with about $800 for the charity, with Dean Antony Card fetching the highest price of over $200.
Megan Moran is the vice-president of the HKR student society. She was very pleased with how it turned out, especially since it was their first time. "The Pie a Prof auction turned out to be a huge success ... We really wanted to take part in raising money for such a great cause and so the society and I decided that we would enter a team in the relay and do our best to raise as much money as we could. "
Dr. Antony Card, Dr. Duane Button, Dr. Dave Behm, Dr. Jeanette Byrne, Dr. Tim Fletcher, Dr. TA Loeffler, and Kellie Baker, represented faculty while graduate students Dustin Silvey and Jon-Erik Kawamoto also took a pie each.
Relay for life is an overnight non-competitive relay that celebrates cancer survivors and pays tribute to loved ones. It's taking place at the Field House at Memorial starting Friday, Jan. 28 at 7 pm and going until Saturday, Jan. 29 at 7 am.
