Memorial University’s Masters in Kinesiology Science has been a spring board for mine and my classmates success in their respected disciplines of exercise science.

As a business owner specializing in corporate wellness the guidance and tutelage received from Memorial University ’s excellent graduate instructors has served me well in my professional and educational endeavors.

The experience of the professors, especially my supervisor Dr. David Behm, has been invaluable in developing my research and writing skills, arming me with the credentials necessary to pursue my PhD in Medicine.

This journey would not have been possible without my master’s degree and in particular with Memorial University. Focusing on individual attention, caring for your scholastic goals and not just being a student number were characteristics which endeared the program to me.

The course load is challenging but necessary to instill the necessary ethics of hard work and determination, teaching the maturity necessary to apply this degree in the real world. Experienced professors with real life publishing know-how allow the student to truly benefit from advice, corrections and wisdom.

My master’s thesis has since been accepted for publishing in the NSCA journal of strength and conditioning research, my second published article in said journal both written during my time at memorial.

The practical nature of my dissertation garnered the attention of Bigger, Faster, Stronger Magazine and was a feature article in that publication. Since then I have become the specificity consultant for this organization, broadly regarded as a leading source of sport science intelligence in the industry.

The work ethic instilled from the program and the respected credentials achieved have allowed my business to expand internationally, receive the BDC Newfoundland Entrepreneur of the Year, a finalist for Ernst and Young Atlantic Canada Entrepreneur of the year, a nominee for Canada’s Top 40 under 40 award, a monthly segment on the NTV evening news and two nationally broadcast television programs.

If you are serious about your future, committed to being the best, take the advice of someone who’s been there.

Memorial University is committed to growing its graduate students and like me, once you have experienced this true education you will understand why I have written this letter and am committed to my university as a proud alumni.
