Frank Zahn High Performance Marksmanship and CSCA Training Facility

High Performance Marksmanship Facility

The Frank Zahn High Performance Marksmanship and CSCA Training Facility is a provincial training center and research facility for high performance target shooters. Created by the Newfoundland and Labrador Shooting Association, in partnership with Memorial University, the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation, and the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, the training facility provides an area of practice for athletes competing in events such as the Canada Games and international events. The facility services athletes of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Atlantic Provinces, and the rest of Canada and has been designated as the Atlantic Canadian Regional Training Center for Olympic shooting sports by the Shooting Federation of Canada.

Located on the first floor of the Physical Education Building, the facility was named in memory of Mr. Frank Zahn, an employee of Memorial University and accomplished marksman. Mr. Zahn received the highest ranking of Master in every event in which he participated, and was the holder of several provincial shooting records. As an an athlete, coach, and administrator of the facility, Mr. Zahn contributed extensively to high performance marksmanship at Memorial, and also within Newfoundland and Labrador and Canada.
