The Office of the General Counsel team includes:
Greg French - Acting General CounselGreg French holds the position of Acting General Counsel. He joined Memorial in March 2006 after having worked in private practice for 8 years. He has a B.Comm. (Hons.) degree from Dalhousie, a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New Brunswick, and a Master of Laws from the University of Toronto.
Denise Collins - Assistant to General Counsel
Denise Collins is the Assistant to General Counsel. Denise has 28 years of experience working at Memorial. Prior to joining the General Counsel team, she held several positions including Assistant to the Vice-President (Academic), Office of the Vice-President (Academic); Senior Secretary, Office of the Dean, Faculty of Arts; Intermediate Secretary in the Office of the President and the Department of Human Resources. She brings this wealth of University knowledge to her role.
Christopher Forbes - Associate General Counsel (Research)
Chris holds the position of Associate General Counsel (Research). He joined Memorial in March 2011 after having worked in private practice for 8 years. He has a B.A. (Hons.) degree from Mount Allison, a M.A. from Acadia, and a LL.B. from Dalhousie.
M. Gerard (Gerry) Quigley - Associate General Counsel
M. Gerard (Gerry) Quigley holds the position of Associate General Counsel. In May 2013, Mr. Quigley joined Memorial from the Department of Justice, Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. Mr. Quigley has a B.A. from Acadia University and a LL.B. from Dalhousie University.
Sheila Devine - Education and Policy Officer
Sheila Devine is the Education and Policy Officer in the Office of General Counsel. Prior to joining the office in 2008, she held a number of administrative positions at Memorial and other Canadian universities. She has a Bacherlor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Windsor.
