Mary Dalton, poet and professor in the Department of English, was one of the featured writers at the international Cork Spring Poetry Festival in Ireland in February. In April she participated in the Blue Metropolis Festival in Montreal, Que., reading her poetry and discussing Newfoundland writing with authors Kathleen Winter and Mark Callanan on a panel chaired by CBC host Paul Kennedy. While in Montreal she read new work from her forthcoming book of centos in the Atwater Poetry Project Series at the Atwater Library in Westmount, an event sponsored by the Canada Council for the Arts.
Dr. Naomi Mifflen Anderson, a psychiatry resident at Memorial, and Dr. Amin Muhammad, psychiatry, are authors of Psychosis and temporal lobe epilepsy – role of electroconvulsive therapy, published in BMJ Case Reports.
Dr. Olaf U. Janzen, professor of history, Division of Arts at Grenfell Campus, attended the sixth International Maritime Economic History Association's International Congress of Maritime History in Ghent, Belgium, July 2-6, where he organized a session on The Saltfish Trade with Iberia in the Early Modern Atlantic and also presented a paper titled The Logic of English Saltcod: An Historiographical Revision.
