Having celebrated student accomplishments at spring convocation and scholarship ceremonies, the Faculty of Business Administration took the time to honour excellence among its own ranks recently with the Dean's Awards for Teaching, Research and Service Excellence.
Dr. Wilfred Zerbe, dean, Faculty of Business Administration, honoured five staff and faculty members for outstanding contributions to the faculty and the university at an awards luncheon June 28.
Faculty members who received excellence awards this year are Dr. Jeffrey Pittman for research, Dr. Amy Warren for teaching and Dr. Alex Faseruk for service. Renee Elliott, manager academic programs (undergraduate), received the Staff Service Award and Susan Gardiner, senior administrative officer, was recognized with the Citizenship Award.
"These are individuals who, through the course of doing their jobs, really put in extra effort to improve the Faculty of Business Administration's overall operations and help us achieve our mission of preparing students for success, conducting and disseminating quality research and sharing expertise – all of which enhances business education and management training in Newfoundland and Labrador," said Dr. Zerbe. "It is a great pleasure to single out a deserving few but there are many more here who make a valuable contribution as well. Selecting the award recipients was no easy task."
Established in 1992, the Dean's Awards for Teaching, Research and Service Excellence are presented annually to candidates who have been nominated by their colleagues and selected by the dean.
