New associate director of marketing named

Christa Steeves, Memorial's new associate director of marketing, has lived by a personal creed during her 15-year career as a marketing professional.
"You should take your work seriously, but never take yourself too seriously," she said.

This balance has led to great success with some of the region's best agencies, such as Bristol, Cossette, Extreme, Target and SPARK.

Ms. Steeves also has experience with higher education clients in the Atlantic region, including Mount Saint Vincent University and the Association of Atlantic Universities. She has worked with such diverse clients as Aliant, Atlantic Lottery Corporation, Anthony Insurance, Empire Theatres, Simmonds + Partners Defence, North Atlantic, the Provincial Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Provincial Government of Nova Scotia, and national and international clients such as Research in Motion, Bell, and BDO.

She is a skilled and experienced marketing professional, with strong abilities in strategic marketing, planning and account management. Ms. Steeves is also highly effective at mentoring a highly motivated team that provides the best in their field.

"My team and I share a common client approach: listen, gain understanding of the client's area of expertise and provide valuable insights that will build their brand," she said.

Over the years, Ms. Steeves has won numerous awards for her work from industry organizations such as Marketing, London International, ICE, Summit and Pinnacle. As well, she is the membership and marketing chair for the local International Association of Business Communicators chapter. And, as a graduate of Memorial's bachelor of commerce program, she has been a guest speaker for marketing classes and is featured in distance education marketing curriculum – where she aims to ignite a passion for marketing in others, especially in up-and-coming talent.
