Harris applied research funding available
The Harris Centre’s 2011 Applied Research Fund is now open for applications from Memorial students, faculty and staff.
Since 2005, the fund, provided through a partnership between the Harris Centre, Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and the Strategic Partnership at Innovation, Trade and Rural Development, has supported Memorial researchers whose work has the potential to improve public policy or support regional development in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Researchers can apply for up to $15,000 per project.
“The point here is to get money into the hands of researchers who are putting their particular expertise to use on the ground, for the betterment of this province,” explained Bojan Fürst, manager of knowledge mobilization at the Harris Centre. “It’s research that has the potential to make things happen.”
Previous awards have funded research in a diverse range of topics, from transportation and energy, to education and culture, by faculty, students and staff from many fields including economics, engineering, business, music, chemistry, history, folklore, education, earth sciences, biology, and the list goes on.
“We look forward to this cycle of the Applied Research Fund, and seeing the diverse and fascinating proposals that have become the norm for this funding program,” said Mr. Fürst.
Application information is available at the Harris Centre website, www.mun.ca/harriscentre.
Please contact Mr. Fürst at email@example.com or 864-2120, or Karen Follett, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 864- 6115, with any questions.
