MUNdays celebrating all things Memorial
Getting the party startedBy Mandy Cook
Memorial University will reward its best ranter with a $1,000 prize, sail people on a simulated voyage to the North Pole and take the music video game Rock Band to new heights during a re-imagined Battle of the Bands later this month as the university’s highly anticipated annual celebrations kick off.
MUNdays 2009 runs from Oct. 27-31.
Celebrations take place under the banner of I Love MUNdays on the St. John’s campus and I Fell for Grenfell at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College in Corner Brook, Memorial’s west coast campus.
MUNdays highlights the diversity, ingenuity, excellence, kindness and community spirit that distinguishes Memorial as one of the best post-secondary institutions in the world.
“I Love MUNdays reminds us all how great it is to be part of Memorial,” said MUNdays co-ordinator Jessica Clarke. “For five jam-packed days it makes coming to school and work an absolute blast. MUNdays is a week when getting involved is a must, because the calendar of events has something awesome for everyone to do.”
A full slate of events and activities are planned, encouraging students, staff and faculty and alumni to come together and celebrate Memorial in fine style.
A chock-a-block, five-day schedule of fun kicks off in St. John’s Tuesday, Oct. 27, with the exciting official Launch of I Love MUNdays 2009 at the University Centre.
The launch will be immediately followed by the International Parade of Flags, a unique and colourful celebration of Memorial’s cultural diversity.
I Fell for Grenfell kicks off with a Healthy Start Brown Bag Breakfast in the front lobby of the Arts and Science building from 8-10:30 a.m.
