Agatha Madeline Hinchey
Agatha Hinchey, a retired employee from Memorial University’s
Office of the Registrar, passed peacefully away in the presence of
her family on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009.
Dr. Edward Dawson (Sandy) Ives
Dr. Sandy Ives, a folklorist who was awarded an honorary doctor of
letters degree from Memorial in 1996, passed away peacefully Aug.
1, 2009, at his home.
Una Marion Pitt (Woolfrey)
Una Marian Pitt, a retired faculty member in the Department of
English, passed away at St. Luke’s Anglican Homes on Aug. 4,
2009, in her 89th year. A school teacher for a decade, she was also
for more than 20 years assistant professor of English at
Memorial.
Lloyd Warford
Lloyd Warford of Upper Gullies, a former longtime employee of the
Geology Department, passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s
Hospital on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, age 66 years.
Dr. William Henry Whiteley
Dr. Bill Whiteley, a former faculty member in the Department of
History at Memorial, passed away Aug. 6, 2009, aged 79
years.
