Sea-Hawk is St. John’s Athlete of the Year

Vicki Thistle was recognized as the St. John’s female athlete of the year at a banquet at City Hall on Feb. 11.
A true all-around athlete, she is best known as an All-Canadian with Memorial’s women’s basketball team, leading the team in scoring, rebounding, and minutes played. However, she was also a member of the Sea~Hawks women’s soccer team this season.
She is only the fourth Memorial basketball player to be named All-Canadian.
Ms. Thistle was also a member of the provincial championship soccer team, and was fourth in league scoring.
Two other Memorial female athletes, soccer player Laura Breen and runner/wrestler Victoria Ralph, were also finalists for the award.
