Fire Safety
Fire detection and suppression equipment is provided in all public areas. Minor maintenance and servicing of equipment is performed by the University Safety Technician. Records are kept of all installations, servicing, and inspections.
Contracts with external firms are maintained for servicing fire extinguishers, fire hose cabinets, standpipes, and sprinkler systems. If additional equipment is required or a change in the suppression equipment in a laboratory or research area is desired, contact the Safety and Environmental Services Office at 737-4393 or through campus e-mail, cboyd@mun.ca.
The purchase of fire suppression equipment, in addition to that required for general building safety compliance, is the responsibility of the requesting department.
