I joined the Faculty of Education, Memorial University of Newfoundland, in January 1998. I teach undergraduate courses in secondary English education and educational uses of computer technologies and graduate courses in multi-literacies, critical media literacy, research, and curriculum studies.

I served as Associate Dean for Graduate Programs from February 2001 to April 2007.

Prior to my move to tertiary education, I was a teacher of high school English in Hants and Kings Counties in Nova Scotia .

My research interests centre on literacies, with a particular emphasis on their intersections with gender, identities, ICTs, secondary education, teacher education, media, community, and teacher professional development.
