How to get here

Located on the island of Newfoundland, St. John's is the easternmost city in North America. The following major airlines serve St. John's International Airport (YYT):

  • Air Canada offers direct flights to St. John's from Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax, as well as connecting flights from many cities in Canada, the USA, and other countries.
  • WestJet offers direct flights to St. John's from Toronto and Halifax, as well as connecting flights from many other Canadian cities.
  • Continental Airlines operates a direct flight to St. John's from New York (Newark Liberty International Airport).

By automobile, the province is accessible via the Marine Atlantic superferries, which cross the Gulf of St. Lawrence from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Port-aux-Basques, Newfoundland. The crossing takes from 4.5 to 8 hours. Upon arrival in Newfoundland, it is a full day's drive (approximately 900km) from Port-aux-Basques to St. John's.

Where to stay

The conference will take place at the Sheraton Hotel Newfoundland in downtown St. John's. We have arranged a special room rate, but only a limited number of rooms are available, so please book early! More details will be posted shortly.

A taxi from the airport to the Sheraton costs a flat fare of $22.50 plus $2.50 for each additional person. All taxi service from the airport is operated by City Wide Taxi.
