Licensed Therapists, along with supervised interns and practicum students, provide primarily short-term therapy for currently registered students experiencing problems in personal, academic, and career counselling.
Students come to the SWCC with a variety of personal issues, such as stress, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, family-of-origin conflict, loneliness, abuse, eating disorders, anger management, substance abuse, and uncertainties about sexual orientation.
If you are seeking counselling for personal issues, you will need to make an appointment with an intake counsellor who will help you determine how the SWCC can best meet your needs. In your first appointment, you and your Intake Counsellor will work out how the Centre can best help you.
Punctuality is important, so please try to arrange to be on time for your appointment(s). Please cancel any appointment(s) at least 24 hours in advance. In the event of inclement weather, please call the office to confirm your appointment.
Students interested in making an appointment to speak with a counsellor may call (709) 864-8500 (Option #2), Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm.
