ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN COUNSELLING
Applications are invited for a nine month term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor at the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre, Memorial University, St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Qualifications: An appropriate doctorate in Counselling or Clinical Psychology from a recognized university is required. Registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board is required.
We are seeking a professional whose duties will include group and individual counselling or psychotherapy across a broad spectrum of student concerns, and who has experience in broad areas of mental health and in career counselling. The position includes involvement with an innovative interprofessional training program within an evolving interprofessional practice environment. The candidate would be expected to supervise master’s students, medical or psychiatric residents and doctoral psychology residents in our CPA-accredited internship. Expertise in cross-cultural counselling and working with diverse clients is required as is an understanding of the international student transition experience. The candidate must also have a good understanding of how global events have a direct impact on the lives of international students. Experience in campus wellness and interprofessional collaboration, especially with offices on campus and in the community that provide services to and programs for international students would be an asset.

Salary is based on qualifications and experience in accordance with the Collective Agreement between Memorial University of Newfoundland and Memorial University of Newfoundland Faculty Association.
The appointment is effective January 1, 2017, subject to budgetary approval.
