Welcome to the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre!

The Student Wellness and Counselling Centre (SWCC) at Memorial University provides counselling, and health and wellness support for students, including primary health care, counselling, health promotion, disease prevention and wellness education.

The centre offers services to students in person, via telephone and virtually. Calls from your clinician will usually appear on your device as a "blocked call" or "unknown caller". Failure to answer the call will result in a missed physician appointment charge.

Click here for information on our Quick Fix Walk In Clinics.

Please note that the Student Wellness and Counselling Centre is not equipped to deal with major emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, broken limbs, active suicidal thoughts or other life-threatening injuries.

Should an emergency arise while on campus, call 911. For off-campus emergencies, you can also dial 911 or, if able, proceed directly to the nearest hospital emergency room.

Students with urgent mental health concerns should avail of the following community-based services:

  • 24-hour mental health crisis line: If you are experiencing a mental health and/or addictions crisis and require support or health information, please call 811 to speak with a registered nurse trained in crisis intervention
  • If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call or text 9-8-8. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through 9-8-8: Suicide Crisis Helpline
  • Mobile Crisis Response Team: Call 811
  • 24-hour Walk-in Psychiatric Assessment Unit at the Waterford Hospital Site on Waterford Bridge Road.
