History:
For the past seven years we have been providing accommodation exclusively for co-operative education students who have had work terms in Calgary. Initially we dealt primarily with UofRegina and Waterloo but we now have students coming to us from all over Canada.
Basic Description:
Our housing is mostly shared (note: the exceptions are a couple of bachelor suites & a two bedroom suite) and a "system" is in place that is designed for single students relying on a few suitcases of luggage. All accommodations are fully furnished including kitchenware, tv's, microwaves, etc. All rooms have a bed, chest of drawers, desk/table and study lamp.
Included:
Off street parking, laundry facilities, cable, utilities, high speed internet.
Exclusions:
No smoking, no pets, no parties Other rules are outlined in The Tenants' Handbook.
Location:
We are located within a very short walk of the UofC and are also within very short walking distance of the LRT (Light Rail Transit) which quickly takes you to the downtown core etc (Note: see notes on Silver Springs properties for exceptions)
Information/Application Process:
A procedure has been in place for several years now which is based on e-mail communication. Various prepared .txt files are sent as attached files to supplement e-mail dialogue. whitedm@telus.net or coopstudenthousing@hotmail.com
Note: Normally students are "processed" in order according to when their first e-mail was received. If they fall out of contact more than 72 hrs they will be dropped to a lower spot in the queue. Also, although this sounds odd, make sure you have at least five cheques available before proceeding.
