"What Students Are Saying About Their MUN Experience" - This report provides a snapshot of the level of student engagement at Memorial University.
The Five benchmarks of Effective Educational Practice are scales each made up of several questions from the survey and are designed to gauge effective educational practice. They were designed by NSSE "to facilitate conversations about student engagement and its importance to student learning, collegiate quality, and institutional improvement." They are:
Individual respondent benchmark scores are the student's average responses to items within each grouping, after all items have been placed on a 100-point scale. Only respondents that answered three-fifths or more of the items within a group have a calculated benchmark score. These benchmarks are a means of assessing what students are doing (their experiences) at the university – they are not opinion or satisfaction markers. The benchmark score that is presented for MUN in the official NSSE report is a weighted mean of these student-level scores.
Explanations for each Benchmark can be found in the following report. This will also detail each of the questions used to make up the scale.
The 2008 Benchmarks Report - While the report says "St. John's Campus", this is the Benchmark report for results for all campuses.
Several presentations have been made about the 2008 results to various groups of University population. The main presentation can be found below.
