Computing & Communications would like to notify the university community that Microsoft has announced that as of April 2014, they will no longer support the Windows XP operating system. This means that Microsoft will no longer send security updates and this will pose a security risk to both you and Memorial. Consequently, as of Dec. 31, 2013, Computing & Communications will no longer be able to provide assistance for Windows XP, other than to upgrade your computer.
Due to the fast approaching April deadline, Computing and Communications must implement an aggressive upgrade schedule. In order to meet this timeline and limit risk for the university, C&C needs your assistance and request that you make every effort to have your computer available when you are contacted for your appointment. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as C&C proceeds with this project. C&C is committed to maintaining its current service level but recognizes that standard times to address PC support issues will be impacted during this upgrade period.
To help prepare departments currently using computers with this older operating system, we will contacting departments directly to identify affected systems and perform upgrades over the coming months.
