A bad update by the vendor has disabled real-time virus scanning for approximately 20% of McAfee Antivirus installs on campus. McAfee are working on a fix, which C&C will test and deploy as soon as it is available. Clients are urged to exercise greater caution when web browsing, downloading files or opening email attachments until this issue is resolved. Computing & Communications (C&C) has received and tested a fix for the McAfee VirusScan problem reported earlier today. Given the urgency of restoring McAfee functionality, C&C intends to roll out this update overnight. Clients are asked to reboot their computers tomorrow morning to ensure the update has taken effect.
