Scheduled E-mail changes – Effective Dec. 2nd, 2009
Memorial customers of Rogers, Aliant or other external ISPs
who have their home e-mail configured to use their @mun.ca e-mail
address will need to use Memorial's authenticated SMTP service for
outgoing e-mail otherwise their e-mail will be tagged as
SPAM.
Beginning 02-Dec-2009, Memorial will restrict the flow of
e-mail from external sites into its system that use a forged mun.ca
return e-mail address. This action is necessary in order to remove
the increasing amount of SPAM e-mail users are receiving that
erroneously appear to have been sent by themselves or others at
mun.ca, but are in fact originating from outside its Network.
This change will have no affect on mail originating from
within any of Memorial's campuses, or users of Memorial's
webmail.
Additional assistance and guidelines may be found at http://www.mun.ca/cc/services/email/smtp/index.php
