Bell Paging Outage - April 28th, 2009
Bell Mobility will be implementing a system change in Newfoundland and Labrador. The system will be changed to recognize a 10-digit number (709 area code plus pager telephone number) when a 7-digit number is received through the paging network. This will not change the way you send or receive local pages using the 7-digit pager number.
All paging customers in Newfoundland and Labrador will experience a short paging outage within a 30 minute period starting at 10:30 AM NST on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. During the outage a message indicating “technical difficulties” will be heard and the caller should try again in a few minutes.
As well, your service will be affected if you use third party software or a separate device that is programmed with 7-digit pager telephone numbers to send pages. Following the system change, you will be required to re-program your software or device with 10-digit pager telephone numbers in order to be compatible with Bell’s system; otherwise your third party device or software will not work. Affected third party software and devices include any device that is connected directly to Bell’s paging network, any paging terminal like Alphamate or similar terminal (modem dial-up access), or any computer application like PC-Page or similar (modem dial-up access).
