Understanding the culture of people with disabilities is a topic Peter Mackey holds dear.
As a quadriplegic Peter used his graduate program to better understand the sense of pride and group identity that bonds many people together.
The interdisciplinary approach of Memorial's Master of Philosophy in Humanities program allowed him to study the philosophy, history, sociology, and more of how people with disabilities resist negative representations of disability and create a unique culture.
Next up for Peter? He intends to take his study of disability to the doctorate level.
