Dr. Dale Corbett

Stem cell research at Memorial?

Dr. Dale Corbett is using cutting edge ideas to research ways to help people recover after a stroke. One such method involves stem cells, although it is still in its infancy and hasn't reached clinical trials yet.

Yet while he has big ideas, proving them requires the hard work of a team of graduate students.

Dr. Corbett, a professor of Neurosciences and Physiology, frequently has more than 15 students working in the lab and he credits them with moving research along.

"They are here all the time working, working, working extremely hard. They deserve an awful lot of credit."

Memorial's committment to graduate students and graduate funding is one of Dr. Corbett's favourite things about working at Memorial.

For this Canada Research Chair in Stroke and Neuroplasticity, graduate students truly are the driving force behind research efforts.
