JAVA and Banner

If you have upgraded to JAVA 1.7 and are a Banner user you will need to downgrade to version 1.6. typically this is done by C&C staff. They can be contacted at 864-4595 to arrange a repair ticket.

If you have administrative rights on your machine and are comfortable doing so there are two ways to downgrade, first uninstall Java 7, then do either:

1. Access the Banner INB page via www.mun.ca/banner , click “PC Login”, which should prompt to install the local version of Java.

2. The version of Java required for Banner can be downloaded from here: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual_v6.jsp

After installation, users can/should disable the check for automatic updates by going into the Windows Control Panel, selecting Java, select the ‘Update’ tab, and un-checking the auto check for updates button.
