ArtsWorks Sessions and Workshops

Weekly Sessions

These weekly career exploration sessions are the cornerstone of ArtsWorks. Students must attend a minimum of 7 out of 8 of the following 50 minute sessions, plus have their resumes critiqued at the Centre for Career Development and attend the 1 hour Closing Ceremony to receive their certificates of completion.

  • On Campus Opportunities
  • Transferable Skills
  • Resume and Cover Letters
  • Job Search and Networking
  • Interview Techniques
  • Creating a Portfolio
  • Further Academic Opportunities
  • Workplace Etiquette

ArtsWorks resources are housed in the Memorial@home system as a non-credit course. For students who register in the program, ArtsWorks will appear in their course list when they login to their account. We utilize this system for resources, discussions, attendance records and posting workshop opportunities. Resume submissions can be submitted through the dropbox there and students receive comments within a few days.

NOTE: Students not involved in the program can bring their resumes to the Centre for Career Development, UC-4002, at any time for critiquing or email it to cdel@mun.ca and staff will return it with comments within a few days.

Workshops

Students attend a minimum 4 hours of workshops. Workshops vary each semester and are offered outside of the regularly scheduled weekly sessions. They can include:

  • Strong Inventory Assessment
  • Go Abroad Fair or Career Fairs
  • Employer Information Sessions
  • Departmental Seminars / Meet & Greets
  • Mock Interviews
  • ePortfolio Workshops
  • Dining Etiquette
  • Additional workshops approved by the program coordinator

Workshops are open for all students to attend not just ArtsWorks participants.

Upon completion of the requirements above, the Closing Ceremony is held during the last week of classes and includes congratulatory messages, a celebratory lunch, and the presentation of certificates.
