Before joining the Department of Archaeology, I worked for three years as a conservator for the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory and four years as Conservator at the Colony of Avalon Foundation in Ferryland. I have had the opportunity to work with a variety of groups including archaeologists, curators and conservators on a wide range of artifacts excavated from both terrestrial and marine environments. My current projects include the treatment of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and organic artifacts from both aboriginal and colonial sites from all over Newfoundland and Labrador. The research setting at Memorial allows me to work on a diverse range of materials as faculty and students work on sites ranging from Black Island in Northern Labrador to Ferryland on the Southern Avalon.
