Thesis Title: Negotiating a Balance?: Parenthood and Student Life at Memorial
My research aims to challenge the idea of a gender-neutral, or ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to social and institutional planning by investigating the social construction of single parent identities. I’ve used semi-structured interviews, life narratives and participant observation to explore the fit between overarching institutional arrangements and the realities of student life for single parents attending Memorial University.
