Current research project includes looking at cases in and around St. John’s to explore themes of place attachment, place-based identity, employment-related geographical mobility (and immobility), neighbourhood choice and housing. It aims to shed light on families’ strategies with respect to residential choice, and their experience of balancing home and work lives. In-depth interviews with mobile middle-class families newly installed in Paradise (one of the fastest growing communities in NL) and in the City of St. John’s and with the members of both city councils and other stakeholders will be held in the coming year.
