BUILDING LEADERS

Student Athlete Leadership Certificate

The BUILDING LEADERS Student Athlete Leadership Program provides varsity athletes at Memorial with the opportunity to enhance their leadership competencies in sport. The unique program is offered through a partnership between Varsity Athletics and Answers, Student Success Programs.

The program involves participation in a series of engaging, hands-on workshops over the course of two years. This unique program provides varsity athletes with the opportunity to develop and build upon skills such as teambuilding, motivation, self-awareness, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution.

HIRE!

Supervisory Certificate for Students

The HIRE! Supervisory Certificate for Students is offered to students who are either currently in or interested in supervisory student positions. This program is designed to help students become more effective supervisors of other students and effective employees, while also preparing students for employment both during and following their time at Memorial. The unique program is offered as a collaboration and partnership between Career Development & Experiential Learning and Answers, Student Success Programs.

The program involves participation in a series of engaging, interactive sessions over the course of two academic semesters. The program provides students with the opportunity to develop and build upon skills such as personal leadership, supervising and coaching peers, intercultural and intergenerational diversity, teambuilding, communication, as well as conflict resolution and how to manage competing priorities.

IMPACT

Global Leadership Certificate for Students

The Global Leadership Certificate engages students who are interested in learning how to encourage positive social change in the world.

Students will participate in three types of content throughout the program: a Knowledge stream consisting of workshops led by community champions; a Reflection stream where students will read and watch current articles and videos on topics of global citizenship and social innovation; and an Action stream where participants apply their skills to solving complex, real-world challenges.

The program will take a commitment of between 2-3 hours per week, on average. For more information, please email leadershipprograms@mun.ca
