2018 Social Work 50th Anniversary Celebrations
TARGET: All years
DATE & TIME: Friday, October 12, 2018 | 7pm - 9pm
LOCATION: "The Battery" on Signal Hill, Memorial University
DESCRIPTION: Memorial University’s School of Social Work invites you on October 12, 2018 to join us for a reception that’s 50 years in the making. It’s an opportunity to see familiar faces, remember days gone by, share in some laughter and enjoy some hors d’oeuvres.
2018 marks fifty years since the Memorial University Senate received a report recommending the establishment of a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree, thus marking the initial steps toward becoming the professional school it is today.
The offerings at the school have since evolved to include a Bachelor of Social Work as a Second Degree, as well as Master of Social Work and Doctoral programs.
We hope you can join us in marking this great milestone and learning about the legacy left behind!
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of social work education in the province, Alumni and Friends have started a fund that will support educational endeavours that complement the student’s academic pursuits at Memorial University of Newfoundland's School of Social Work. Please consider giving a gift to support these endeavours. You can do so through the event registration form's donation field or by calling Michelle Smith-Antle, Development Officer with the Office of Development, at 709-864-8791.
