President's Message

Dr. Axel Meisen

Welcome to the President's Report 2003-2004. This year has seen remarkable progress throughout Memorial University of Newfoundland, progress that is challenging to summarize. We have therefore produced this brochure, the President's Report Highlights, which gives insight into some of our major developments. The full report is available on the Web at www.mun.ca/2004report and, for the first time, on the enclosed DVD. The innovative DVD format enables us to bring you extensive written information as well as video and audio materials, which give you a lively introduction to Memorial University.[more...]

{Going further through teaching...}

    Providing students with a stimulating learning experience is not restricted to what happens inside the walls of a classroom. This past year, Memorial continued its tradition of taking students further, beyond the classroom...[more...].

{Going further than what's expected...}

    Beyond whatís expected. Thatís the best description for many of the outstanding people who worked, studied or were associated with Memorial this past year. Amazing students, accomplished staff members, and outstanding teachers, researchers and alumni are just some of the people who helped us go further.[more...]

{Going further than what's known...}

    Research is the quest to go further than what we know, to cross boundaries in the sciences, humanities, technology, arts and culture. This past year Memorialís research funding rose to $73.9 million, a 40 per cent increase over the previous year. [more...]
