Atlantic Networks for Prevention Research: Workplace Research Unit

Project Title

Atlantic Networks for Prevention Research — Workplace Research Unit

Summary

Atlantic Networks for Prevention Research consists of Atlantic-wide networks of researchers, policy makers, practitioners, and community organizers, each based at one of four university centres — Memorial University of Newfoundland, Dalhousie University, University of New Brunswick, and University of Prince Edward Island. In collaboration, research centres at these universities focus on the health of communities, workplaces, and schools with an aim to (1) enhance capacity for research in illness and injury prevention and health promotion in Atlantic Canada; and (2) better understand and address the health impacts of social and physical environments through research development, knowledge translation, training and mentoring. The Workplace Research Unit, located at SafetyNet (Memorial University of Newfoundland), focuses specifically on occupational illness and injury prevention in workplaces and promoting occupational health and safety research and training in the region.
