Duraspace spotlights Yaffle for Open Access Week

Yaffle is being spotlighted by Durspace during Open Access Week October 20-27, 2014.

Yaffle is Memorial University’s online connecting tool.  It brings Memorial’s research, teaching, and public engagement expertise together with real, community-based research opportunities. It uses DuraSpace as the hosting platform for the tool.

The Harris Centre will launch a totally redesigned Yaffle in the Spring of 2015. Behind the scenes, the new Yaffle employs semantic web technologies that enable discovery of research activities within the university and collaborations between university and community partners. Over the past year the Yaffle team worked with members of the VIVO research discovery initiative, out of Cornell University, and together modelled Knowledge Mobilization in what is now the Yaffle Knowledge Mobilization Ontology. Because of this work, Yaffle will be showcased during Open Access Week by Duraspace, the independent organization providing leadership and innovation for open technologies that promote durable, persistent access to digital data.

Yaffle will re-launch at Memorial and will launch at two additional schools to pilot its implementation beyond Memorial University.
