Title of Project
Understanding Values, Attitudes, Motivations, and Behaviors of the residents and youth of Salmonier Line
Research Description
My research project, Understanding Values, Attitudes, Motivations, and Behaviors of the residents and youth of Salmonier Line, is focused around environmental attitudes.
The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) recently bought 3 parcels of land along the beautiful Salmonier River here in NL to create a nature reserve. The area is ecologically and culturally significant for many reasons. Ecologically, because the forest itself makes up one of the smallest eco regions in the province and it is home to a diversity of lichens some of which are globally rare. Culturally, because many of locals frequent the remote landscape engaging in recreational and wildlife related activities. Therefore, my research aims to understand residents and youths attitudes and values towards the environment while documenting their recreational and wildlife related activities and the motivations behind them.
