About the Department of Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry was founded in 1967 and its first head was Dr. L.A.W. Feltham.  We've grown from small beginings to a group of faculty, staff, and students that number well over 300 in Fall 2014.  Our faculty are active in teaching, research, and comittee work as well as collegial activities across campus and indeed around the world.  Many of our students have earned scholarhips and other awards for their high academic achievement.  Our small group of staff are noted for their dedication to the department - many have been here in this department for most or all of their university career.

Science celebrates academic achievement and service

It was a full house for the recent Dean of Science Awards ceremony and reception on Tuesday, Sept. 22.

Over 280 students, who represent the top 10 per cent in the faculty, were admitted to the Dean's List, possibly the largest number at one time.

Memorial facilities to participate in national Science Literacy Week

Memorial University’s Faculty of Science, Queen Elizabeth II (QEII) Library, the Botanical Garden and Let's Talk Science have joined forces with the Johnson GEO Centre and St. John’s Regional Library to host a series of science themed events during the week of Sept. 21st.
