A Note about Bleeds and Crop Marks

You may notice on some of these templates that the PDF page size is larger than the finished document size, and there are mentions made of "bleeds" and "crop marks". Bleeds extend elements or graphics beyond the edges of the final size of the page in cases where they are intended to extend to the edge, and crop marks indicate where the sheets should be cut to final size. Since printers and presses are mechanical devices that inherently can have minute positional variations between sheets, bleeds serve as a margin of error that prevents the final finshed products from having unsightly empty space on one or more sides. Therefore, for best results it is critical to include them if your printed items have any elements that touch the edges of the page.
