Income Tax & Deductions

There are a number of deductions which are made from the income that you receive. Typically, students working on campus will see deductions for the Canadian Pension Plan (CPP) and Employment Insurance (EI) on their paychecks. The amount that is deducted is proportional to the amount that you receive in the same paycheck. These deductions are taken out automatically and cannot be adjusted.

However, in the later half of the Winter Semester, you will be able to file your income tax returns, and usually, students will be able to receive the full amount of these deductions back. More information regarding taxes is given at information sessions organised by our office in the Winter Semester. Emails will be sent out through the list-serv as and when the date(s) is/(are) confirmed.
