Jody holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Cell and Molecular Biology, a Master of Education (Post-Secondary Studies), a Post-Graduate Certificate in Quality Management, and has completed all course requirements for a Master of Science in Bio-medical Science.

In addition to her professional interests, she is an active volunteer and donates her time to Memorial University’s ScienceM@tters program, the Marine Institute's "Surging Waves" Dragon Boat team, and the Dachshund’s of Newfoundland and Labrador.
