We provide support services to researchers seeking funding for strategic initiatives and/or major opportunities, supplemental to those provided by Unit Grant Facilitators and RGCS. These services are designed to assist researchers to increase application success rates and enhance research excellence at Memorial. This includes support on proposals involving multiple Memorial faculties, academic disciplines, external partners, and economic sectors.
We assist with submissions to select Tri-Agency and other programs, including NSERC Alliance Grants and CREATE Grants, SSHRC Partnership Grants and Partnership Development Grants, CIHR Catalyst Grants and Team Grants, and streams within the New Frontiers in Research Fund.
Our services include early-stage consultations with researchers, assistance with project/proposal development, and proposal review (prior to internal deadlines for Unit/Institutional review and approval). We work in close collaboration with Unit Grant Facilitators to provide the integrated and complimentary skillsets needed to develop complex proposals.
Services can vary depending on program requirements and researcher needs, and are outlined below:
Project and Proposal Development
We are available to meet with researchers who are developing project ideas to discuss shaping these into a competitive research funding application.
We are available to provide assistance with planning and management of the various requirements and stages of major funding proposals.
Guidelines and Templates
We can provide program-specific guidelines and templates to assist with application development, including suggested timelines and/or templates to ensure your application adheres to the competition instructions and adjudication criteria.
We can provide written feedback on full applications to strengthen them prior to submission. Feedback addresses proposal issues such as: content gaps related to selection criteria and instructions/guidelines; application organization and formatting; clarification of meaning; strengthening content impact; etc.
We can provide written feedback on targeted section(s) of applications to strengthen them prior to submission. Feedback may address sections such as: Budget Justification; Benefits to Canada and/or the Supporting Organizations; Expected Outcomes Summary; etc.
