When Public Engagement Meets Entrepreneurship

Is entrepreneurship really a solitary practise?

Despite what popular culture representations sometimes suggest, in reality, collaboration, networking, and sharing information and ideas often help good concepts go further.

This session will highlight presentations and discussion by entrepreneurs and the university, college, community and government partners they work with. Panelists will explore the importance of networking, the role of applied research for industrial application and how clusters of specialized industries evolve in a location and how colleges and universities can play a central role in creating and supporting commercially viable R&D, start-ups, and specialized skills and infrastructure.

This session will involve participants in the People, Place and Public Engagement Conference, and is also open to students and anyone from industry, government and community who would like to explore these issues with speakers from St. John’s and from across the province and the country.

The session will run from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. October 26, at the Emera Innovation Exchange at Memorial’s new Signal Hill Campus.

This is a free session. To RSVP, please email Cherie at cheriew@mun.ca and specify that you’d like to attend the entrepreneurship session.
