The Neighbours Project: Stories from Cultural Communities in and around St. John’s

This presentation introduces Neighbours: St. John’s, a digital archive program that has led to a smartphone app and interactive website featuring stories from cultural communities in and around St. John’s.

Creators Megan Forsyth, of Memorial’s Music, Media, and Place (MMaP) and Chris Brookes of Battery Radio, will share their experiences working together on this project that highlights the sometimes hidden cultural diversity of St. John’s.

After the presentation, participants can head downtown (shuttle provided) to take the tour solo, or can accompany Bojan Furst of Memorial’s Harris Centre for a slightly more guided experience.

This session will involve participants in the People, Place and Public Engagement Conference, and is also open to students and anyone from industry, government and community who would like to explore these issues with speakers from St. John’s and from across the province and the country.

The session will run from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. October 26, beginning with a presentation at Signal Hill Campus, followed by a walk downtown (transportation down Signal Hill provided.)

To register, please email Cherie Williams at cheriew@mun.ca and ask to register for the Neighbours session.
