Eldon Murray, native of St. Alban's, Newfoundland, received his Bachelor of Music degree from Mount Allison University, and a Master’s Degree with distinction in vocal accompanying and coaching from Westminster Choir College of Rider University. His principal teachers were Dalton Baldwin, J.J. Penna, and Metropolitan Opera conductor Daniel Beckwith. He accompanied the Westminster Opera Theatre production of Gianni Schicchi, and returned as assistant music director for L'enfant et les sortilèges, Il re pastore, and Dialogues des Carmélites. From 2007 to 2009, he was also a coach/répétiteur for the CoOPERAtive program in Princeton.
Eldon returned to Newfoundland after completing language studies in Vienna, Austria, and has since served as the lyric diction instructor and opera workshop music director for Memorial University of Newfoundland. His primary area of research is in Art Song repertoire, with a particular interest in the interdisciplinary exchange between scholars and performers.
