Useful links for moving to the Memorial 2016 template
Web Content services is the unit within Marketing and Communications responsible for guiding Memorial departments through the process of setting up a website. We provide the process and support the content management system(Site Builder), working with ITS, for you to easily and effectively create and maintain a website.
We use a template-based system so that links to search and university wide services are accessible and so the user has the same navigation and experience across the entire mun.ca website.
Within the standard Memorial 2016 template, there are many useful widgets that can be used on your landing page (and throughout your site) to tell your story and link to services. Please fill out a Marketing Request Form to request a new site or to use a new widget on your site.
Here are example sites that show different usages of the Site Builder "Memorial2016" template:
http://www.mun.ca/undergrad/ (a well maintained page)
http://www.mun.ca/undergrad/programs/ (for an example of using the banner manager on a non-landing page)
https://citl.mun.ca/ (a non-academic major unit)
http://www.mun.ca/science/ (an "umbrella" site with many units)
https://www.mun.ca/residences/ (nice clear and simple menu)
http://www.mun.ca/english/ (all HSS units have a clean, standard top level menu as shown here)
The Step by step guide for a web project (pdf) is used to guide users through a clear process for ensuring you are maximizing your web presence. Sites which are developed using a shortcut approach are often the first ones needing a redesign later. Do it right the first time. Ultimately the process only works if you are willing to work on content: creating it, and maintaining it.
