The Frecker Summer Institute will help current and future French teachers complete 2 Memorial University courses, French 2300 and 2900, designed specifically to improve oral skills in French. Memorial University is pleased to acknowledge financial support for this project is provided under the Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Agreement on Minority Language Education and Second Official Language Instruction.
Admission: The prerequisite for admission is successful completion of French 1502 with a minimum mark of 65% or permission of the Head of the Department, following written application. Selection for the program is on a competitive basis and takes into account both results in French courses and general university standing.
Approximate total cost of program $1,500 (plus tuition) *. What you will receive :

- Fulfillment of the 4 week study in a French milieu for the French minor regulation
2300 Phonetics is a practical introduction to French phonetics, including the International Phonetic Alphabet and phonetic transcription as well as corrective phonetics.
2900 A Survey of Francophone Cultures places emphasis on oral comprehension and expression.
